UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: WRs Allen Robinson Authentic Derrick Henry Jersey , Marqise Lee and Arrelious Benn; CB Aaron Colvin; LBs Paul Posluszny and Lerentee McCray; OL Patrick Omameh; QB Chad Henne; TE Mychal Rivera; S Peyton Thompson; LS Matt Overton.
RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: RB Corey Grant; LB Donald Payne.
NEEDS: Offensive help. With futures of wideouts Robinson, Lee and Allen Hurns unclear, Jaguars have to add playmakers to take some burden off second-year RB Leonard Fournette and inconsistent QB Blake Bortles. Jags also have 33-year-old TE Marcedes Lewis entering 13th season and needing to cut back on playing time, so they could have several new faces on that side of ball. Multiple WRs and at least one TE are possibilities in free agency and/or draft. Backup QB also needed. Coach Doug Marrone wants to be run-first team and needs explosive personnel outside to reduce and maybe eliminate eight- and nine-man defensive fronts.
AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE (approximately): $29 million.
Watt has played only eight games combined the past two seasons, making 1.5 sacks.
Watt’s 2017 season ended with a tibial plateau fracture in his left leg during the fifth game. Early in the offseason program, Texans coach Bill O’Brien was cautious when discussing Watt’s rehab.
O’Brien, though Tarell Basham Jersey , has seen enough from Watt to feel good about where the defensive end is now.
“I feel good about J.J. because J.J. feels good about J.J.,” O’Brien said, via John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. “He’s in a good place. He’s been here every day. He’s very positive about where he is from a rehab standpoint.
“He’s committed to the cause of what we’re trying to do.”
Clowney played all 16 games for the first time in his career in 2017 but underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in the offseason. He missed the Pro Bowl and didn’t participate in team drills during the offseason program.
Clowney, though Authentic Brian O'Neill Jersey , expects to be healthy for the start of training camp, and the Texans expect to have him on the field despite the lack of contract talks.
Clowney, the first overall pick in 2014, will make $12.3 million this year under the fifth-year option.
“He and I have had a number of conversations Vikings Authentic Jerseys ,” O’Brien said. “He’s guaranteed me he’ll be ready to go on July 25.”
Then the question becomes can Watt and Clowney stay on the field?
On Saturday night at the Prudential Center, the Devils (40-28-9) look to take another step closer to their first playoff appearance in six years when they host the New York Islanders (32-36-10).
The Devils are 6-2-1 in their last nine games, coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday, a defeat that snapped a three-game winning streak that solidified New Jersey’s hold on the second wild card in the East.
“The last stretch of games, we’ve been playing some good hockey and finding ways to string wins together,” said Devils winger Kyle Palmieri, who has four goals in his last three games. “We have to reset quickly after (the loss to Pittsburgh) and get ready for a big weekend and see where this weekend takes us.”
“It’s exciting, every night the buildings are electric, the games seem to all go down to the wire with exciting atmospheres,” said Devils forward Blake Coleman. “These are fun games to play in, and we’re fortunate to be in the position to play meaningful games.”
Keith Kinkaid has been the backbone of New Jersey’s final kick at the end of the regular season. He has started eight of the last nine games in goal, stepping up in the wake of injury and poor play of No. 1 netminder Cory Schneider to post a career-high 22 wins this season.
Kinkaid made 30 or more saves in each of his last eight starts since March 10.
“Keith has had our back down the stretch,” said New Jersey’s leading scorer Taylor Hall.
The Devils are 2-0-1 against New York this season, with Kinkaid starting both of the team’s wins in the season series.
The Islanders are stumbling down the stretch, just 3-11-4 in their last 18 games following Friday’s 5-4 home-ice loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. One bright spot in the most recent defeat was that team captain John Tavares scored a power-play goal to reach 80 points for the third time in his career.
“You’d like the production to lead to some good results for the team John Tavares Jersey ,” Tavares told reporters Friday.
New York was without two of its key forwards against the Maple Leafs. Casey Cizikas and Josh Bailey both sat out with upper-body injuries. Cizikas is ruled out for Saturday’s contest while Bailey is a game-time decision.
In addition, the status of veteran goaltender Jaroslav Halak is unknown for the game in New Jersey. Halak was scratched due to an illness Friday and rookie Christopher Gibson started, while Thomas Greiss backed him up after being activated off injured reserve.
The Islanders are playing out the string after being eliminated from playoff contention earlier in the week for the second season in a row.
“We are looking to play well and finish strong,” said Islanders coach Doug Weight. “We are all professionals here.”
Free agent safety Eric Reid said Thursday he is not planning to protest during the national anthem this upcoming season.
Reid has been among the NFL’s most visible protesters since former San Francisco teammate Colin Kaepernick decided not to stand for the national anthem in 2016.
Reid continued the protest of racial injustice and police brutality against minorities by kneeling during the anthem last season as Kaepernick was unable to find a job. But Reid said he will take a different approach in 2018.
”We understand you have to change with the times,” he said after watching his brother, Justin, take part in his Pro Day at Stanford.
”I’m not saying I’m going to stop being active because I won’t. I’m just going to consider different ways to be active, different ways to bring awareness to the issues of this country and improve on the issues happening in this country. I don’t think it will be in the form of protesting during the anthem. I say during because it’s crazy that the narrative changed to we were protesting the anthem and that wasn’t the case. I think we’re going to take a different approach to how we’re going to be active.”
Reid has gotten no contract offers more than a week into free agency despite a record of strong play on the field and versatility that many teams usually covet.
San Francisco general manager John Lynch said the team is monitoring the market for Reid but the Niners are mostly set at safety with Jaquiski Tartt, Jimmie Ward and Adrian Colbert under contract.
Reid said his agent has heard from a ”couple” of teams but money hasn’t been discussed and he is still awaiting an opportunity. Reid has said that he understands his activism could affect his employment Antwaun Woods Jersey , especially after watching Kaepernick go unsigned for more than a year.
”I said before, I stand by what I’ve done,” he said. ”I know why I’ve done it. My faith in God is the reason. I can go to sleep at night confident that I did what I was taught to do. I’m just going to stay positive, keep training, keep staying in shape and we’ll see what happens.”
Reid was a first-round pick by the 49ers in 2013 and made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. He has been a strong player throughout his career, playing strong safety, free safety and even some linebacker last season when San Francisco was short-handed at the position.
He has 10 interceptions and 36 passes defensed in 70 career games.
”Eric played and played well for us last year,” Lynch said. ”I think he’s kind of stuck in a safety market that’s been quiet. I would anticipate things starting to shake for him. We’ll see.”
While Eric Reid looks for a team, he spent Thursday helping his brother prepare for his Pro Day. Justin Reid is considered one of the top safeties eligible for the draft and will likely get picked on the first two days of next month’s draft.
Justin Reid said he has visits planned with Minnesota Abry Jones Jersey , Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Seattle and Carolina. He also met with 29 teams at the combine but said no one has asked him about his brother or if he would protest during the anthem.
Justin Reid said he’s prepared for those questions if they come and that he won’t protest.
”We each have our own beliefs,” he said. ”He felt like that’s what he needed to do. I have my own ways that I feel like I’m going to go about it. I’m not as much of a vocal person in that situation. I don’t really like drama. I don’t want to deal with that.”
Stacking in daily fantasy football is important because when a quarterback has a huge performance there will naturally be pass catchers who also benefit.
When a QB throws for 300-plus yards and multiple touchdowns Youth Joe Flacco Jersey , a receiver by default will rack up yardage and scores. Pairing a QB and pass catcher together increases the potential upside for a lineup because fantasy owners get double the points each time they hook up.
The high total in the Texans-Patriots game in Week 1 is likely to garner a lot of interest from daily players, leaving others stacks with lower potential ownership. One such stack is the Drew Brees-Michael Thomas connection in New Orleans as the Saints host the Buccaneers. The Saints are 9 1/2-point favorites over Tampa Bay and missing one of their top running backs. And the Saints offense projects to be one of the most concentrated in the league.
Thomas is projected to have 28.3 percent target market share, the fourth highest in the league according to DailyRoto projections Nyheim Hines Jersey , following a 28.1 percent target market share in 2017. Target market share is a pass-catcher's share of all of a quarterback's targets 鈥?and it's no secret where Brees will likely throw.
Last year, the Buccaneers ranked 31st in passing defense, according to Football Outsiders' defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) statistic. Vernon Hargreaves Authentic Stefon Diggs Jersey , one of their starting corners, allowed a whopping 1.61 yards per coverage snap. It's a beatable matchup that Las Vegas sports books have factored into their wagers offered.
In the unlikely event Thomas is slowed down, it would be either due to the Bucs defense shutting him down or a dominant performance from running back Alvin Kamara 鈥?the other guy to consider stacking with Brees.
Just a season ago Sylvester Williams Jersey , Kamara caught more passes than any running back besides Le'Veon Bell and scored more receiving TDs than any RB not named Todd Gurley. Bucs linebacker Lavonte David graded as one of the top linebackers in coverage and the team still ranked 25th in DVOA versus RBs in coverage and allowed nearly 50 receiving yards per game (48.0) to the position.
If the Saints are up late, running out the clock with Kamara would almost surely be the game plan.
Kamara attempted 56 rushes in the first half of games last year and 64 total in the second half of games. DailyRoto's model projects him for 49.5-percent of the rushing market share, 50-percent of the rushing TD market share and over 5.0 yards per carry (YPC) which even factors in some expected regression following his 6.1 YPC last year 鈥?which tied with Barry Sanders for the third highest by a running back since the 1973 season.

The Buffalo Bills have begun restocking their depth at running back by reaching deals to re-sign Travaris Cadet and Taiwan Jones.
Cadet has six years of NFL experience split among five teams. He was signed by Buffalo on Nov. 4 and appeared in six games before breaking his right ankle in a 37-16 loss to the New England Patriots on Dec. 24.
Cadet had taken over the primary backup duties behind starter LeSean McCoy. He finished the season with 96 yards rushing and 119 yards receiving.
The Bills signed Cadet after Jones broke his left arm during an onside kick in a 34-21 loss to the New York Jets on Nov. 2. Jones was mostly used in special teams situations.
The two will compete with newly signed free agent Chris Ivory for backup jobs.
Dez Bryant produced three 1 James Washington Color Rush Jersey ,000-yard seasons in his eight seasons in Dallas. He has caught 531 passes for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns in his career.
His departure leaves the Cowboys without a true No. 1 receiver.
That suits quarterback Dak Prescott just fine.
“I don鈥檛 know if any team in the league necessarily needs a No. 1 receiver,” Prescott said. “It鈥檚 about getting the ball out, spreading the ball around, keeping the defense on its toes.”
The Cowboys’ projected top-five receivers have one 1,000-yard season among them. Allen Hurns, Deonte Thompson, Cole Beasley, Terrance Williams and third-round pick Michael Gallup have combined for 750 receptions for 9,659 yards and 65 touchdowns.
Beasley and Williams are the only returning receivers among those five Jonathan Allen Color Rush Jersey , leaving Prescott needing time and repetitions to get to know Hurns, Thompson and Gallup.
“I mean the only thing you can do is just get out there with routes on air, things like that,” Prescott said. “We did a bunch together. Me and these young guys have been here before we even started OTAs, getting that timing down so we can get in OTAs and have good feel for each other and now with the defense in front of us, grow off of that and grow from what we鈥檝e already accomplished. That鈥檚 the best thing I can do.”
The Buffalo Bills‘ long-term future in western New York was secured when Terry and Kim Pegula purchased the franchise following the death of Hall of Fame owner Ralph Wilson in 2014.
Where the team will play its home games – at its current stadium in suburban Orchard Park or at a new downtown Buffalo facility – within the next decade is the question.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell touched on the topic at league meetings in Florida on Wednesday by saying the Pegulas are ”at a very early stage” in assessing their options. Goodell then left the details to be announced by the owners when they are ready to share them with the community.
On Tuesday, Terry Pegula said, ”We talk about that heavily internally, but not publicly,” when asked if the Bills would consider using the opt-out clause in their lease in two years to explore a new stadium site.
The Bills later clarified Pegula’s comment by saying he was referring to long-term stadium plans and adding that the team had no plans to opt out of the lease Lorenzo Alexander Jersey , which expires in the summer of 2023.
The Bills maintain they are early in their planning process and have not ruled out any option. They’re also aware that time will become an issue in determining whether the next lease negotiations will focus on a long- or short-term agreement.
The questions come down to building a new stadium, either downtown or near the Bills’ existing site; renovating their current home, New Era Field; and how much public money would be spent.
One possibility is pairing a new stadium and Buffalo’s need for a new convention center, which would ease concerns over taxpayer money being spent on a stand-alone sports facility.
A new stadium alone would cost approximately $1 billion.
Staying at New Era Field, which opened in 1973, also wouldn’t come cheap.
A stadium site selection study conducted by AECOM Technical Services in 2014 projected it would cost $540 million for the next series of renovations, including structural improvements and rebuilding the stadium’s third deck. The study based its estimates on what it cost the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs to extensively renovate their facilities over the previous decade.
And that cost is on top of the $130 million in renovations that took place four years ago, and the $18 million the Pegulas are spending on club seat upgrades this year.
The next step would involve the Bills hiring a firm to conduct a feasibility study to identify sites, costs and what best suits a franchise based in one of the NFL’s smallest markets.
The AECOM study was commissioned by New York state – not the Bills – at an uncertain time during the sale process. Concerned that someone out of town would purchase the Bills and consider relocating them, Gov. Andrew Cuomo had the study conducted to provide prospective owners a list of options of what the region had to offer.
The relocation fear ended once the Pegulas Danton Heinen Jersey Kids , who own the NHL’s Sabres and have established a corporate base in Buffalo, emerged as the front-runners.
The AECOM study can at least still serve as a guide.
Of the three downtown stadium sites identified, one is no longer an option because it has since been developed.
The site that drew the most attention is a large two-block parcel of street-level parking lots located in the city’s emerging Cobblestone entertainment district. The site is located a block east of the Sabres’ arena and within two blocks of HarborCenter, a $200 million hotel and hockey entertainment facility built by the Pegulas, and the headquarters of Pegula Sports and Entertainment.
One person directly involved in discussions three years ago, after the Pegulas purchased the team, told The Associated Press in January that the Bills were focused on building a downtown stadium, and that the Cobblestone site was regarded as ”one of the prime target areas.” The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the talks were private.
It’s unclear whether those plans have changed.
At the time, the state was tentatively committed to funding the necessary infrastructure upgrades, such as expanding roadways and access ramps from nearby Interstate 190. The site is also close to public transportation. It’s a five-minute drive from the Peace Bridge border crossing into southern Ontario Mikael Granlund Jersey , a few blocks from the Amtrak Rail station, and within about 15,000 parking spaces.
Developer Carl Paladino, who owns a large number of properties in the area, called the Cobblestone site ”the most logical place to put it (a stadium),” in an interview with the AP in January.
Kim Pegula outlined the challenges the Bills faced during an interview with the AP in 2014.
”You only get to build a stadium once, so we just want to make sure we take our time and do the right thing,” she said. ”We just want to make sure that when the time comes that we have done all our homework and have the best stadium that we can for Buffalo.”
The Pegulas have since backed off discussing stadium plans by calling them premature, and added they’re satisfied with the most recent renovations.
Doomed by two first-half turnovers and a pair of head-scratching play calls on fourth down, Pittsburgh was stunned in the AFC playoffs by the Jacksonville Jaguars, who outslugged the Steelers 45-42 on Sunday to earn a trip to New England for next week’s conference championship.
Roethlisberger, who had wondered if he was washed up after throwing five interceptions in a loss to the Jags on Oct. 9, set a franchise postseason record with five touchdown passes but it wasn’t enough as the Steelers (13-4) couldn’t stop a Jacksonville offense that was supposedly weak.
As Roethlisberger dressed at one end of Pittsburgh’s locker room, a few of his teammates sat at their stalls in disbelief.
This wasn’t the plan.
Cam Heyward handled wave after wave of questions about the team’s numerous defensive lapses. Bell downplayed that his messy contract situation created an unnecessary distraction in the days leading up to the game, and cornerback Artie Burns sat in his uniform and stared blankly at the floor.
The Steelers never recovered from a 21-0 first-half deficit and are now left to wonder what might have been. Twice they got within seven in the second half only to give up back-breaking plays to the Jaguars, who rushed for 168 yards and seemed to come up with a big play whenever they needed one.
”It’s crazy that we couldn’t get off the field,” Heyward said. ”They played better than us – simple as that.”
The Jaguars had the Steelers out of step early on. After rookie Leonard Fournette’s second TD, the score set up by linebacker Myles Jack’s interception of Roethlisberger, Jacksonville was up 14-0 and Pittsburgh’s rowdy fans were using their Terrible Towels to muffle their disgust.
The Steelers seemed to panic when coach Mike Tomlin elected to go on fourth-and-inches and then inexplicably ran a sweep to Bell that got snuffed. Later, Roethlisberger threw an incompletion on fourth down when a simple sneak might have moved the chains.
”We didn’t execute well enough and they did,” Tomlin said when asked about his decisions.
Roethlisberger went 37 of 58 for 469 yards and the five TDs, the last coming with 1 second left.
It was a sobering moment for the star quarterback who has orchestrated so many comeback wins during a 14-year career. Roethlisberger found some solace in his final throw.
”Nobody quit and that speaks volumes about this team,” he said.
Roethlisberger also dismissed any talk the Steelers were looking past the Jaguars and a rematch with the Patriots Josh Ferguson Jersey , who handed Pittsburgh its only loss in the last 11 games.
”We were dialed in,” he said. ”I know I wasn’t looking forward.”
Bell finished with 155 total yards and afterward sidestepped much talk about his contract. He was franchise tagged by the team for $12 million this season and has made it clear he wants more money.
”I wasn’t thinking about it,” he said. ”All I was thinking about was getting to the Super Bowl.”
As for his own future, Roethlisberger indicated that he intends to return next season. The 35-year-old has hinted at retirement, but that seemed far from his mind as he swallowed a loss few saw coming.
”I don’t know what’s going on with people’s contracts,” he said. ”I don’t know how many years guys have left. I know the guys up front are all under contract and that’s a good feeling. I definitely have a desire to play football. I love this game. I love these guys. It’s tough. It stings.
”You hate losing at home. I feel bad because I feel like I let the fans down and my teammates down. I feel like I let a lot of people down and I’ll take it all myself. I look forward to next year with those guys.”
OAKLAND, Calif. — The Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs are both hoping that history repeats itself when they meet in Game 2 of the Western Conference playoffs on Monday night.
The second-seeded Warriors thumped the seventh-seeded Spurs 113-92 in the series opener on Saturday afternoon, putting both teams in a familiar position.
Golden State used a home win in Game 1 as a springboard to a four-game sweep of the Spurs in the Western Conference finals last season.
San Antonio, meanwhile, was drubbed 126-99 in Game 1 of the Western semifinals by the Houston Rockets last May, only to turn things around immediately with an equally decisive 121-96 blitz in Game 2 en route to an eventual six-game victory in the series.
“We’ve got to regroup Chris Wideman Jersey , feel hurt, upset, kind of desperate,” Spurs veteran Manu Ginobili said after Saturday’s shellacking. “We don’t want to go home 0-2. So we’ll fight as hard as we can in Game 2.”
After leading the NBA in scoring during a 58-win regular season, the Warriors focused on defense in Game 1 of the postseason. Coach Steve Kerr moved super-sub Andre Iguodala into the starting lineup in an attempt to give the game a defensive tone from the start.
It worked. The Spurs shot just 35 percent in the first quarter and were held to 17 points, falling behind by as many as 14 points.
“The whole point of these games early in the series is to re-establish our defense,” Kerr explained. “You can’t win in this league in the playoffs unless you defend.”
The Spurs finished the game at 40.0 percent from the field. The Warriors held five opponents below 100 in the playoffs last season, and won all five of those games.
The Golden State defense was especially problematic to San Antonio star LaMarcus Aldridge, who was held to 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
Coincidentally, Aldridge also shot 5 of 12 in the Spurs’ regular-season finale against New Orleans, a loss that dropped San Antonio into the undesirable first-round matchup with the defending champs.
Aldridge averaged 23.1 points and 18.0 shots from the field during the regular season.
JaVale McGee had the defensive assignment on Aldridge at the start of the game and actually outscored him 9-4 in the Warriors’ first-quarter runaway.
Kerr declared afterward that McGee also would get the start in Game 2 Jamaal Williams Jersey , but Spurs coach Gregg Popovich wasn’t committing to anything on his end.
Kerr switched to Pau Gasol at center in the Spurs’ turnaround against the Rockets last season, a move he also could make Monday, with the veteran having come off the bench in Game 1.
Popovich made it clear after Saturday’s loss that no one player was more responsible for the Game 1 embarrassment than any other.
“The first quarter, we looked like a deer in the headlights. Very disappointing,” he said. “I thought we were very prepared physically and mentally, but I was mistaken. That was the game right there.”
The series will shift to San Antonio for Games 3 and 4 on Thursday and next Sunday.
Punter Jon Ryan is the only player on the Seahawks’ roster that predates head coach Pete Carroll and General Manager John Schneider in Seattle. And while Ryan and Schneider have a close relationship and work out together at the team’s headquarters throughout the season Kyle Connor Jersey , it didn’t stop Schneider from selecting a punter that could eventually supplant Ryan as Seattle’s punter in May’s NFL Draft.
But according to Jayson Jenks of the Athletic, Ryan has no intentions of handing the job to fifth-round pick Michael Dickson.
鈥淸Schneider] had that attitude almost like, 鈥楽orry, but I had to do it,鈥?Ryan said when he first crossed paths with his G.M. after the draft. 鈥淎nd I was like, 鈥楧on鈥檛 apologize! Do not apologize.鈥?This is the business. If all the players got to pick who was on the team every year, we鈥檇 still have the Super Bowl team from five years ago.鈥?/p>
Ryan has been with the Seahawks for 10 seasons after being let go by the Green Bay Packers at the end of training camp in 2008. It was a decision that Schneider had to inform Ryan the Packers were making when Schneider was Director of Football Operations in Green Bay. Now Ryan’s time with the Seahawks is in peril after a decade spent in Seattle.
Barring the occasional unique circumstance, NFL teams only keep one punter and one place kicker on their 53-man roster during the season. And the Seahawks just spent a relatively high draft pick to select a player 15 years younger than Ryan; a player that won MVP honors in the Texas Bowl against the University of Missouri in December.
鈥淚f you let me, I鈥檓 going to compete my ass off Youth Donte Jackson Jersey , harder than you鈥檝e ever seen,鈥?Ryan told Schneider. 鈥淚 love you. I have so much respect for you. But one way or the other, I鈥檓 going to make you look really dumb.鈥?/p>
Ryan is getting that chance to compete. He’s still on the Seahawks’ roster as the team breaks for six weeks before training camp begins at the end of July. While Dickson can do some impressive things kicking a football, Ryan has vastly more experiencing holding for place kickers. He’s also thrown a touchdown pass in the NFC Championship game and caught a 109-yard touchdown pass when playing at the University of Regina in Canada.
While kickers can get panned for their perceived lack of athleticism, Ryan doesn’t fit that mold. He can do many things beside punt a football, though he’s still quite good at that as well.
鈥淲e expect him to battle just like he is,鈥?Carroll said during offseason workouts. 鈥淗e has not backed off one moment.鈥?/p> As he has long desired, DeMarcus Cousins will finally get a chance to play for a winner once he’s healthy from a torn left Achilles tendon.
When Boogie returns to the court this season, the volatile big man will give the Golden State Warriors five 2018 All-Stars in their starting lineup to chase another title – with Cousins trying for his first after never appearing in the playoffs. The center Anthony Castonzo Jersey , who has had his problems with technical fouls, will sign with the two-time defending champions after the moratorium period is lifted Friday, a person with direct knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Monday night. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract is yet to be completed.
Cousins is set to join a starting lineup of two-time MVP Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, who is fresh off his second straight NBA Finals MVP, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
”The 3rd splash Brother,” Curry posted on Twitter with a series of happy crying emojis. ”Let’s go (at)boogiecousins.”
Cousins’ Pelicans lost to the Warriors in a five-game Western Conference semifinals while Cousins was injured. The 27-year-old Cousins played in New Orleans for coach Alvin Gentry, a top assistant for Steve Kerr when the Golden State won the 2015 championship – the franchise’s first title in 40 years – and still a close friend and confidant of Golden State’s head coach.
Cousins tore his Achilles in late January and underwent surgery. He has posted regular updates on social media with the hash tags ”The Resurgence” and ”0 Doubt.”
”I been grinding since a youngin in the trenches this ain’t nothing new to me,” he wrote last month on Twitter .
According to the Elias Sports Bureau Nathan Peterman Jersey , the Warriors would be the first team since Boston in 1975-76 to play five All-Stars from the previous season at the same time. That group was Jo Jo White, Charlie Scott, Dave Cowens, Paul Silas and John Havlicek.
Durant has again agreed to a two-year deal with a player option to sign a more a lucrative contract next summer, which also provides the Warriors financial flexibility as general manager Bob Myers builds the roster to go after another title. Golden State will play its final season at Oracle Arena in Oakland before a move to new Chase Center in San Francisco’s Mission Bay neighborhood.
The Warriors lost center JaVale McGee on Sunday to the Lakers, who landed LeBron James with a $153.3 million, four-year contract as the NBA’s free agency period began.
Green, for one, is a huge fan of Cousins.
”He’s incredible. He can score the ball Eric Weddle Jersey ,” Green said in January 2017 at Sacramento when Cousins was still with the Kings. ”I think DeMarcus is the best center in the game. A lot of times people don’t give him that credit. A part of it is they try to downplay his status because of his reputation or getting technical fouls or things like that. He is the best big man in the game hands down. It’s always interesting to watch, interesting to play against, interesting to play with, because he’s so incredibly talented.”
In a story March 11 about the NFL players union elections Authentic John Kelly Jersey , The Associated Press erroneously reported that Michael Thomas of the Saints had been voted to the executive council. The correct player is Michael Thomas of the Dolphins.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Eric Winston has been unanimously re-elected as president of the NFL players union, earning his third straight three-year term.
Winston, who is scheduled to become a free agent Authentic Customized Titans Jerseys , ran unopposed for the position. The NFLPA Board of Player Representatives announced the result Sunday at the NFLPA’s annual meetings.
New York Giants linebacker Mark Herzlich was elected as the union’s treasurer.
The Washington Redskins say they're concerned by allegations made by cheerleaders in a New York Times article about a trip to Costa Rica for a photo shoot in 2013.
Team president Bruce Allen said in a statement Thursday the organization is immediately looking into the situation. Allen says if the investigation shows any employees acted inappropriately, "those employees will face significant repercussions."
The New York Times reported the cheerleaders had their passports collected, were forced to be topless for a calendar photo shoot that included male spectators and were asked to be escorts for sponsors at a nightclub. The story Derrius Guice Color Rush Jersey , published Wednesday, quoted cheerleaders on condition of anonymity because they signed confidentiality agreements.
Allen says team officials have had dialogue with a number of current and former cheerleaders and have "heard very different firsthand accounts that directly contradict many of the details" of the article. Allen says the Redskins "will continue to take all necessary measures to create a safe and respectful work environment for their cheerleaders."
The Browns rallied from a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter against the rival Steelers and snapped a 17-game losing streak with a 21-21 result that left fans celebrating in the rain. They had a chance to win the game, but Pittsburgh’s T.J. Watt blocked Zane Gonzalez’s 43-yard field-goal attempt with 9 seconds left in overtime.
For a while, it seemed the Steelers would cruise to another easy win over the Browns even without Le’Veon Bell. The All-Pro running back is still holding out over a bitter contract dispute, causing some animosity among his teammates. Backup James Conner had 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns and caught five passes for 57 yards. But Ben Roethlisberger threw three interceptions and fumbled twice, and Conner’s fumble in the fourth quarter helped the Browns rally.
Conner, a star at Pitt who became a city favorite while recovering from a cancer diagnosis in November 2015 Rod Brind'Amour Jersey , may have cost Bell some leverage with his strong performance.
Tyrod Taylor’s 17-yard touchdown pass to Josh Gordon sent it to overtime, and neither team could find a way to win it on a wet, sloppy field.
In case you missed it, here are the other top topics after the NFL season’s opening Sunday:
BREATHE EASY, WISCONSIN: Aaron Rodgers returned in the second half after being carted off the field with a knee injury and led the Packers back from a 20-0 deficit to a 24-23 win over the Bears. Rodgers threw three touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to Randall Cobb with 2:13 left in the game. The stadium fell silent and everyone in Green Bay panicked when Rodgers went down. The Packers missed the playoffs after losing Rodgers last season and are 6-10-1 without him since 2013. Backup DeShone Kizer threw a pick six to Khalil Mack Mike Green Jersey , who disappeared in the second half after a dominant start in his first game for Chicago.
BIG PLAY BUCS: Ryan Fitzpatrick had a 417-yard, four-touchdown performance filling in for the suspended Jameis Winston in a 48-40 upset at New Orleans. Fitzpatrick threw touchdown passes of 50 yards to Mike Evans and 58 and 36 yards to DeSean Jackson. The Buccaneers had 529 total yards against the Saints, who countered with 475. Tampa Bay, coming off a 5-11 season, was the biggest underdog of the weekend at 9 1/2 points.
BECKHAM IS BACK: Odell Beckham Jr. had 11 catches for 111 yards and drew two pass interference penalties on the same drive in his first game since last October following ankle surgery. Beckham won the 1-on-1 battle against outspoken All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, but the New York Giants lost the game. The Jaguars got a pick six by Myles Jack in a 20-15 victory on the road.
PHILLY PHILLY: Needing a spark for his sputtering offense http://www.officialredwings.com/authentic-adidas-dylan-larkin-jersey , Eagles coach Doug Pederson turned to a familiar trick play in the third quarter of Philadelphia’s 18-12 victory over Atlanta on Thursday night. Quarterback Nick Foles caught a 15-yard pass from wide receiver Nelson Agholor to extend a drive that ended with a touchdown. Foles caught a 1-yard TD pass from tight end Trey Burton in the first half of Philadelphia’s 41-33 win over New England in the Super Bowl. That play was called “Philly Special.” This one was “Philly Philly.” Pederson used the same personnel group, but a different formation this time around.
NATIONAL ANTHEM: Miami Dolphins receivers Kenny Stills and Albert Wilson were the only two players to kneel during the national anthem opening weekend. Colin Kaepernick called them “brothers” and thanked them on social media. Dolphins teammate Robert Quinn raised his fist. Niners receiver Marquise Goodwin did the same at San Francisco’s game at Minnesota. Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas and linebacker Brandon Marshall, and Seahawks linemen Duane Brown and Quinton Jefferson, retreated to their respective tunnels while the anthem played. In Los Angeles, Chargers left tackle Russell Okung raised his fist.
TROLLING THE BOYS: Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant had fun taking shots at his old team during an 18-6 loss at Carolina. Bryant wrote on Twitter: “It’s kind of cool calling out all of the signals and knowing which route players are about run.” He engaged with fans, suggested he’d have success in New England or Washington and said he didn’t think Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wanted him out of Dallas.
JIMMY GAROPPO(NOOOOO): Playing his first game since signing his megadeal with San Francisco following seven career starts Youth Christian McCaffrey Jersey , Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t look like a $137.5 million quarterback. He tossed three interceptions in a 24-16 loss to Minnesota, including a pick six. Garoppolo was 2-0 as a starter for the Patriots in 2016 and 5-0 for the 49ers last year.
Browns quarterback Tyrod Taylor had to leave Thursday night’s game after hurting his left hand, but he returned to action and head coach Hue Jackson said after the game that X-rays showed no broken bones.
Taylor reportedly didn’t come through completely unscathed, however. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Taylor dislocated his pinky when he came down on his hand while throwing an incomplete pass on an attempt to convert a fourth down.
Taylor tweeted on Friday that he’s fine and the fact that he throws with his right hand makes it a little easier to deal with any injury to the other one. Taylor’s return to the game on Thursday suggests he won’t need much time off and he may not have been set to play a major part in next week’s preseason finale anyway.
Taylor was 11-of-16 for 65 yards and ran twice for five yards against the Eagles on Thursday.
Jaguars rookies are set to report to training camp on Wednesday and that group should include defensive tackle Taven Bryan.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Bryan has agreed to his rookie deal with the team. Bryan was the 29th overall pick of this year’s draft and Morgan Cox Jersey , like all first-round picks, Bryan’s deal will run four years with a team option for a fifth season.
Bryan played 30 games at Florida over the last two seasons and recorded 62 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, three fumble recoveries and an interception. He’ll join a talented defensive line in Jacksonville and vie for playing time alongside the likes of Malik Jackson, Abry Jones and Marcell Dareus in his first professional season.
Because he isn't likely to play more than a series or two in Friday's preseason opener, Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford has a few modest goals for the Lions offense.
"Just execute and communicate at a high level," Stafford said Wednesday. "Get out there and communicate and make sure everybody's on the same page. At the end of the day, on offense if everybody's communicating on the same page you're going to have a chance to be successful. That's the biggest thing, go out there and make sure that we're just playing good Womens Jordan Reed Jersey , sound football."
The Lions spent the past two days conducting joint workouts with Oakland at the Raiders' training camp facilities in the heart of Napa Valley wine country.
Following Tuesday's 2 1/2-hour practice, which was highlighted by a multi-player brawl that ended a team scrimmage session, the Lions packed up to travel to a hotel 75 miles south of Napa where they'll stay until Friday's game.
Detroit first-year coach Matt Patricia declined to say how much Stafford and the rest of the Lions starters will play.
"I'm just trying to get through today's practice and make sure I get everybody going in the right direction," Patricia said prior to Tuesday's practice. "We'll find out on Friday."
The Lions' first offense had an uneven day against the Raiders during the team scrimmage. They were flagged for three penalties and sputtered on their initial drive before Stafford found wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. for deep completions.
"I feel physically good," Stafford said. "Obviously another year in the system is going to hopefully help me expand my ability within the system to get us into the best plays possible. I feel very comfortable at the line of scrimmage doing our thing, but I can always be better. I'm always trying to find ways to improve and to get the ball to those playmakers at a higher clip."
Stafford passed for 4 Matt Slauson Jersey ,446 yards with 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2017, his seventh consecutive season with 4,200 yards or more. The 30-year-old quarterback also had a career-best 99.3 passer rating.
Detroit, which hasn't made it past the wild card round of the playoffs since 1991, won three of its final four games down the stretch but failed to advance to the postseason.
Although he won't be on the field very long Friday, Stafford is relishing playing in a game after mostly practicing against Detroit's defense before the two workouts with Oakland.
"It's a good change-up Chris Kreider Jersey ," Stafford said. "We have to go out and prepare for another defense a night before. You don't have a ton of time to look at them. You just go out there and try to execute your stuff as well as you can. I've got players on this team that I've never played an NFL game with before so it's going to be to see how they go about their business and how they react."
Tuesday's practice got chippy when Lions defensive end Anthony Zettel hit Raiders backup guard Jon Feliciano from the side, sparking a fracas involving multiple players before they were eventually pulled apart.
For the second straight year Earnest Byner Jersey , the Steelers have exercised their prerogative to apply the franchise tag to running back Le'Veon Bell. For the second straight year, Bell has exercised his prerogative to not sign the franchise tag.
So when will Bell sign his one-year, $14.54 million tender? He should consider signing it before the 90-to-53 roster cuts are made on Saturday.
Article 20, Section 4 permits the Steelers to place Bell on roster-exempt status for up to two weeks of the regular season. Section 4(a) specifically requires the Steelers and Bell to agree in writing as to what his compensation will be while on roster-exempt status.
This gives the Steelers license to play hardball with Bell, if they choose to do so. Really, why pay him more than $855,000 per week if he’s not going to play for the first two games, against the Browns and the Chiefs? And the Steelers may be inclined to not let him play the first two weeks of the season, given that it took him a few weeks last year to get up to speed.
Bell can avoid this potential wrinkle by simply signing his tender before the rosters are cut. And the Steelers can avoid that wrinkle and several others by rescinding the tender entirely, something that the Steelers continue to have the right to do until he signs it.
Last season, the Seattle Seahawks led the league when it came to the number of players willing to make a statement while the national anthem played.
Linemen Duane Brown and Quinton Jefferson walked off the field and waited in the tunnel while a field-sized American flag was unfurled and the national anthem played before their season opener Sunday in Denver.
In a league where more than 200 players once took some sort of action to protest police brutality and social injustice in America during the anthem, The Associated Press counted fewer than 10 across the league who did so on the NFL's opening Sunday. Only two of them 鈥?Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills of the Dolphins 鈥?kneeled while the "Star-Spangled Banner" played.
None of which bothered Brown much. He says he's committed to what he's doing.
"I made my decision," he said. "That was my decision. I wasn't paying attention to what other teams or other players are doing."
The lower numbers might reflect a new strategy many players are embracing to draw attention to the issues Colin Kaepernick raised when he began kneeling for the anthem in 2016. The then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback was looking to shine a light on issues impacting African American communities.
Since then, a group of NFL players have formed the Players Coalition . They want to move the focus away from the anthem, which has become a lightning rod, in part because of President Donald Trump's continued criticism of players who don't stand during the anthem.
"We're trying to move past the rhetoric of what's right or what's wrong in terms of the anthem, and really focus on the systematic issues that are plaguing our communities," said Malcolm Jenkins of the Eagles, one of the group's co-founders, who is no longer protesting during the anthem.
And yet, if Kaepernick is on board with all of that Malcolm Smith Jersey , it wasn't clear Sunday. He took to twitter to praise Wilson and Stiles .
"My Brothers (Stills) and (Wilson) continue to show their unwavering strength by fighting for the oppressed," Kaepernick said in his tweet. "They have not backed down, even when attacked and intimidated. ... Love is at the root of our resistance."
Kaepernick's message got through to his friends in Miami.
"I know he has our back," Stills said. "Really, there has been a huge difference between when we first started protesting and now. A lot of people are reaching out and supporting us, so I really appreciate that. To everybody out there ... let's keep doing our best to make positive change and have these conversations and make our country a better place."
Since opting out of his contract after 2016, Kaepernick has been unable to land a job with an NFL team and is suing the league for collusion.
But his voice is still being heard. Last week, Nike introduced an ad featuring the quarterback and his message: "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything."
Other than Stills, Wilson and the two Seahawks, Dolphins defensive lineman Robert Quinn raised his fist during the anthem. Niners receiver Marquise Goodwin did the same at San Francisco's game at Minnesota. In Los Angeles Shayne Gostisbehere Jersey , Chargers left tackle Russell Okung raised his fist. And back in Denver, Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas and linebacker Brandon Marshall retreated to their tunnel while the anthem played.
Marshall sent out a statement touting a charity designed to help people who are on the verge of homelessness.
"It is time that we build social currency by way of empowering our future generations," Marshall said. "This begins by addressing the most fundamental needs 鈥?by feeding the minds and bodies."
This came hours after Trump opened the day with a tweet that took digs at the NFL, linking low ratings for Thursday night's opener between Atlanta and Philadelphia (lowest for an opener since 2008) to players who refuse to stand for the anthem.
"If the players stood proudly for our Flag and Anthem, and it is all shown on broadcast, maybe ratings could come back? Otherwise worse!" he tweeted.
CBS and Fox, which carried Sunday afternoon's games, did not televise the anthem.
However, NBC did show the anthem Thursday night (but not before Sunday night's Bears-Packers game), and no players kneeled or protested in other ways.
But while the tumult over the anthem appears to be dying down, the NFL still hasn't collaborated with the players union to come up with a definitive solution.
In May Authentic Cameron Jordan Jersey , the league briefly put a policy in place, but rescinded it after the union filed a grievance. The union and league are still negotiating. Brown, of the Seahawks, said he has not received any message from the union to tamp down the protest.
"I don't think that would be the best idea to try to get people to move on from it," he said. "The country hasn't moved on from it, so I'm not going to move on from it either."
